M68 Globular Star Cluster

M68 is a globular star cluster in Hydra that was discovered by Charles Messier in 1780. This rich globular cluster contains over 100,000 stars. M68 It is about 100,000 light-years in diameter. M68 is moving toward us at a speed of 72 miles per second. This is one of three Messier objects in Hydra. The other two are M48 and M83.

This is a composite RGB CCD image taken with a Takahashi FCT-150 telescope using an SBIG ST-8XE. This image was taken from my backyard in Scottsdale, Arizona.
