Three groups of sunspots were on display on the surface of the Sun during the annular eclipse on May 20, 2012. The planet Venus was visible near the Sun during the eclipse.

This image was taken with a Takahashi FS-78 refractor mounted on a modified Takahashi EM-10 mount. A Canon EOS Digital Rebel SLR camera and Thousand Oaks Optical Type 2+ solar filter were used. The image was taken from a friend's place near Reno, Nevada.
