This is an image of the Sun taken with a hydrogen-alpha filter during the partial eclipse of the Sun leading up to the annular eclipse of the Sun on May 20, 2012. I was able to simultaneously view the Sun with both a whitelight filter on a Takahashi FS-78 and with a hydrogen-alpha filter on a SolarMax 60 telescope.
This image of the Sun was taken with a Coronado Instruments SolarMax 60 H-alpha 60mm refractor. The refractor has a built in hydrogen-alpha filter. This image was taken from a location near Reno, Nevada.
